Psychosis (with its most common type schizophrenia) is a high-impact mental condition which makes the person lose contact with reality. Delusions and hallucinations are just a few of the characteristic manifestations of the said disorder.
When not properly managed, the condition worsens, making the person unable to perfom activities of daily living. It's quite sad to find out that one of their cherished memories now serves as just a part of her delusions and hallucinations.
"It's okay, babe. You did nothing wrong. Gago yung lalaking yun ah, he took advantage of you," aniya sabay halik sa noo nito.
"You're not mad at me?" anito sabay yakap sa kanya.
"Of course not, I will never be mad at you."
"I love you so much, Mike. You know that, right?"
He did his best to fight back tears but he failed in doing so. Nangilid ang luha sa kanyang mga mata.
"Yes, baby. And I love you more," sagot niya pagkatapos ay ginawaran ito ng masuyong halik sa mga labi.
"Sir, time for Doc's meds," singit ng caregiver nitong Marie.
Hinawakan niya ang magkabilang pisngi ng kanyang nobya. There he was, staring at most beautiful woman in his eyes. He's staring at a doctor who was once tagged as one of the best cardiologists in the country. He's staring at the woman whom he loves so much. He's staring at his girlfriend who suffers from acute psychosis which was triggered when her young patient died while having a heart transplant.
"I know you'll miss me," tudyo nito sa kanya sabay kurot sa kanyang tagiliran.
Nanggigigil na kinagat niya ang lower lip nito.
"You'll be back next week, right?" Tanong nito habang paalis na siya sa visitor's lounge.
"Yup. It's a date," he answered and winked at her.

Author's Note
Psychosis (with its most common type schizophrenia) is a high-impact mental condition which makes the person lose contact with reality. Delusions and hallucinations are just a few of the characteristic manifestations of the said disorder.
When not properly managed, the condition worsens, making the person unable to perfom activities of daily living. Without the aid of anti-psychotic medications, healthcare professionals and a strong support system coming from the family and loved ones, the person suffering from psychosis can never function effectively.
I have no intention whatsoever of maligning or disrespecting the persons affected by or diagnosed under the psychotic/schizophrenia spectrum of disorders. This fictional story is fabricated to raise awareness on the sad realities behind the said disorder. As much as possible, if we see/encounter persons suffering from psychosis, let's just try to understand them and hope for the optimal management of their disorder.
